Henry VIII and all that.

Another one finished another to start. I began this some time ago but really did not like the black dagger which just looked out of place. I unpicked it and was going to fill the gap with the colour of the skirt but someone of Henry's status would have carried a weapon. I have to decide if I stick to authenticity how to stitch the dagger because I did not like the one in the design it just looked wrong. I am going to continue with the rest of the stitching and hope inspiration comes. Perhaps some of you fellow UFOers have some suggestions. I am planning stitching this on Sundays so progress will be slow.

I too have this piece hidden away(unstarted) in my mini stash. I know what you mean about the dagger, perhaps you could use a gold blend in it to make it look less bold with the dark colour or perhaps change it to a lighter pewter colour. I'm sure H's dagger would have had a bit of glitz!!
Still Happy stitching to you. Look forward to seeing it.

Those of us who know this design know what the dagger actually looks like, not a dagger and that's for sure. I agree with Flo you could change the colour to make it not seem as obvious. I would leave a gap and continue with the rest.

I think I would simply change the color to make it less harsh and less obvious...

But it looks like a great design!

I like your idea of letting the inspiration flow when it comes. This project will speak to you... I look forward to your Sunday progress pics!
